The activities will include booths, pavilions, display of special vehicles and equipment, workshops, and fun programmes, large and small. The purpose is to let people know, in a light-hearted manner, more about campaign partners’ application of science and technology in providing services, to further enhance the public awareness towards science, and to allow students to learn through fun. Many government departments/bureaus, collaborating organizations and tertiary institutions will take part in the event. Opening hours will be 4-6pm on 14 November and 10am-6pm on 15 and 16 November. Admission is free. Details of the Fun Fair can be found at http://www.science.gov.hk/eng/fun-fair200811e.htm

Under the "Science in the Public Service" Campaign, a series of popular science talks are organized from July to December 2008 at the Lecture Hall of Hong Kong Science Museum, Tsim Sha Tsui East, Kowloon. The lectures introduce how government bureaux/departments use science and technology, plan development and serve the public. It strengthens our knowledge on science and technology, and understanding of their service and operations. The lecture schedule can be found at http://www.science.gov.hk/eng/info-talks.htm

The "Science in the Public Service" Campaign and the Hong Kong Economic Times cooperate in the publication of a series of articles introducing how government bureaux, departments and collaborating organizations use science and technology to serve the public. The articles are released under the newspaper’s Liberal Studies section or on Take Me Home once weekly since 5 May 2008. Covering a wide range of topics, the articles are produced after interviews with experts or professionals from government departments or famous organizations, and are prepared in layman terms. About twenty articles have so far been published, with a readership reaching 300,000. Each article is followed by a discussion column to stimulate students' thinking. The articles can also be found in the "Science in the Public Service" web page under http://www.science.gov.hk/eng/liberal-studies-e.htm .
