Various activities commenced immediately after the launch of the campaign on 13 January. A joint exhibition was held at the Exhibition Galleries of the Hong Kong Central Library on 13-17 January. In tandem with the exhibition, a number of scientific lectures were held at the Lecture Theatre of the Central Library on 14 and 15 January. An estimated 10,000 people attended the two events. The scientific lectures attracted media attention with interviews of the speakers appearing in several newspapers.
Among the major activities of the campaign are: a scientific talk by the Planning Department on "Transport Model used in predicting Cross-boundary Traffic Volume", "The Application of Remote Sensing and 3D Technologies in Town Planning" and "Using Web GIS to enable Public Access to Town Planning Information" and a guided tour of the Hong Kong Planning & Infrastructure Exhibition Gallery; and "Agricultural Science" lectures and visit to Tai Lung Experimental Station organized by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department in February. More than 400 people participated in these activities.
The series of "Science in the Public Service" popular talks at the Hong Kong Science Museum started on 11 March. The first talk was "Science Meets Art in Conservation" by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, which enriched the knowledge of participants in art conservation. Coming talks can be found at:

Application for school talks and exhibits on loan have commenced. More than 10 schools have applied and been referred to relevant departments for follow up actions.
Coming activities continue to be enticing. A Symposium will be organized jointly with the Hong Kong Science Institution at the Hong Kong Science Museum on 27 April. It has already attracted more than 300 applications. A series of over 10 radio programmes entitled "A New Scientific Hong Kong" will be launched at the RTHK in mid-April to introduce to the public the scientific achievements of government departments. Furthermore, an essay competition (cosponsored by the Hong Kong Education City) is in full gear. Details of the activities can be found at the official website of the campaign: http://www.science.gov.hk
The success of the "Science in the Public Service" Campaign relies on the participation of government departments and the support of the public. The Organizing Committee counts on your continual support.
