Objective: To enhance public understanding of the application of science and technology in the provision of public service in Hong Kong.
Theme: Application of science and technology in the public service.
Title: There is no restriction to the title, but the content shall relate to science and technology and their application in the public service. Please click here for examples of the title.
Entries: The competition is open to Hong Kong residents. Each participant, in the junior or adult stream, may submit up to two essays, one in Chinese and/or one in English:

Submission: Note deadline of Saturday, 30 September 2006, and submission time will be based on the stamp date or email receipt time.
Each entry shall be accompanied by a duly completed entry form. Please click here to download the form. The public may call 1878 200 (press 3-7-5-3) to obtain the entry form via fax.
Judging Panel: The judging panel will consist of senior professionals in the civil service and external experts. Essays will be judged by their creativity, insight, clarity and language. Please click here to view the list of judges.
Prizes for each of the 4 groups:

Prize-winners will be notified separately by mail or email. Prize-winners may be invited to attend an awards ceremony and a lunch with science experts.
Conditions:
| 1. | Entries shall be the unaided original work by the participant and have not been published before. |
| 2. | The participant's name shall only appear on the entry form accompanying his/her essay. |
| 3. | All entries will not be returned. Please make a copy as necessary before submission. |
| 4. | Civil servants are not eligible for the competition. |
| 5. | The organizer reserves the right to disqualify entries and reclaim prizes awarded should the essays be found to have violated copyright or Hong Kong Laws. |
| 6. | Decision of the Judging Panel is final. |
| 7. | Participants accept that copyright of their prize winning essays belongs to the Hong Kong Government. |
| 8. | Participants accept that their prize winning essays may be released or published in media designated by the organizer. |
